Our new workshop

Found & Fixed Hudson Valley started as a hobby shop in my basement in Poughkeepsie. In October of 2022, Gabe and I decided to take the plunge and rent a workshop space not far from my home.

This first space was a dream after months of basement work. This space allowed us to test the concept of our business, work on our processes, collect tools, and build our inventory of supplies.

Fortunately and unfortunately for us, in melting snow and hard rains of the Spring of 2023 brought quite a bit of water into our workshop. Why do I say “fortunately”? Our leaky windows and ceilings made us look at our space from a new perspective and pushed us to raise the standards for our workshop space.

We found a lovely space in Highland. Although I love the city of Poughkeepsie and would have been very happy to stay there, the new space and location was too good to not say yes to. Although it’s across the river, it’s closer to my home. It’s also much closer to Gabe, which is helpful since he works in the evenings and often stays in the workshop quite late.

Our new space comes with two garage doors, which is amazing for loading and unloading furniture. It also has a separate room that we can use to store finished furniture. This saves us from making trips back and forth to a storage unit. And the floors! They’re flat and easy to roll furniture around on, which means much safer days for the two of us.

Overall, we are so delighted with our new space and can’t wait to see what we’re able to do there together
