Furniture painting faq

We got A LOT of questions about the dos and don’ts of furniture painting. We’ve collected some of the questions that we frequently receive and our answers here!

1. What types of furniture can you paint?

We can generally paint any kind of wood furniture, including dressers, tables, chairs, cabinets, and more. If you're unsure whether your piece is a good candidate for painting, feel free to send us a photo for a consultation by filling out this form.

Generally we want to avoid painting furniture that is made of HDF or MDF. If you’re not sure what your furniture is made of, send us some photos and we’ll help you figure it out.

2. Can you paint my kitchen cabinets?

Yes! This is a great way to give your kitchen a fresh, modern look without a full renovation.

3. Do you offer custom colors or finishes?

Absolutely. We work with a wide range of colors and finishes, including matte, satin, semi-gloss, and high-gloss. We can also match a specific shade if you have one in mind.

4. How durable will the painted finish be?

We use high-quality paints and sealants designed for furniture, ensuring durability and longevity. With proper care, the finish will last for years.

5. Can you achieve special effects like distressing or a weathered look?

Yes, we can create custom finishes such as distressed, weathered, or antique effects. Let us know what look you're going for, and we’ll work with you to achieve it.

6. Will the paint chip or peel over time?

We take steps to prevent chipping and peeling, including thorough surface preparation, priming, and sealing. However, heavy wear-and-tear or improper care could affect the finish. We’ll provide care tips to help maintain your furniture.

7. How long does the process take?

Most furniture painting projects take 2–4 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the piece. Larger projects may take longer. We'll give you an estimated timeline during the consultation.

8. Do I need to do anything to prepare my furniture before bringing it to you?

No preparation is necessary on your part! We'll handle cleaning, sanding, and prepping the piece to ensure a smooth and professional finish.

9. How much does furniture painting cost?

Pricing depends on the size, condition, and complexity of the piece. For example, painting a single chair starts at $125, while larger pieces like dressers or tables start at $600. Fill out this form to get a quote for your piece and we’ll provide a detailed quote after assessing your project. You can also see our project pricing here.

10. Can you paint over furniture with an existing finish?

Yes, we can paint over existing finishes. However, if the piece has significant damage or peeling, we may need to strip or repair it first to ensure the new paint adheres properly.

11. What types of paint do you use?

We use high-quality, eco-friendly, US-made paints from a small veteran-owned company.

12. Do you offer touch-up services?

Yes, if your painted furniture gets scratched or damaged, we can touch it up for a fee. We also provide a touch up kit to all customers.

13. Can I see examples of your previous work?

Of course! Check out our portfolio on our website or social media pages to see before-and-after photos of our painted furniture projects.

14. What should I do to care for my painted furniture?

Avoid harsh cleaning products and abrasive scrubbing tools. Use a soft cloth and mild soap for cleaning. We’ll provide detailed care instructions tailored to your piece.
